The Right View: County Election Updates
Just a few personal observations from the 2010 Primary
I’m sure that no one is thrilled about the obnoxious plethora of campaign signs around our county, but this is taking things too far.

This sign has been sliced with a razor in two places that effectively destroys the sign. This is not a casual case of vandalism. The sign was sliced in two places with a razor in a manner that guarantees that the sign cannot be repaired.
If you find the sign offensive, call the candidate. I’m sure that they will move or remove it. These signs cannot be placed on private property without the owners permission and all signs must comply with and have the following disclaimer "NOTICE: IT IS A VIOLATION OF STATE LAW (CHAPTERS 392 AND 393, TRANSPORTATION CODE) TO PLACE THIS SIGN IN THE RIGHT-OF-WAY OF A HIGHWAY."
Collin County Democrats Supporting Republicans
Although none of the Collin County Democratic races are contested, this has not prevented a couple of high profile Democrats from actively supporting Republican candidates.
Tom Daley, a Democrat who ran against Sam Johnson for Congress in 2008, and Jean Power, who was the unsuccessful 2008 Democrat candidate for Commissioner - Precinct 4, are sponsoring a fundraiser featuring Collin County Judge Candidate, John Muns:

At the forums all of the Republican candidates, including Mr. Muns, have been touting their conservative credentials, as well as pledging to support the Republican nominee in their race. Another question asked of all candidates was "Have ever voted for a Democrat?". I have been to two of these functions and have yet to hear any candidate confess that they have voted democrat for anyone or anything.
Perhaps this means that Power and Daley have now become Republicans.
Collin County Democrat PAC’s Fined by Texas Ethics Commission
In other Collin County Democrat news, both the Texas Democratic Women of Collin County and the Stonewall Democrats of Collin County were fined by the Texas Ethics Commission for not submitting paperwork in a timely manner. According to the January 26, 2010 report, the Texas Democratic Women of Collin County were fined $11,400 and the Stonewall Democrats of Collin County were fined $500.
Mike Agan, the treasurer for the Stonewall Democrats of Collin County noted that they were working to resolve the issue and that they were no longer an active PAC.
Barbara Walters, the president of the Texas Democratic Women of Collin County responded that, "The Attorney General has informed the Texas Democratic Women of Collin County that their Political Action Committee is not liable for fines incurred by their former PAC Treasurer. The fines assessed were due to a failure to file financial reports in a timely manner. On Mon, Feb. 1, the board met and supported President Barb Walters’ appointment of a new PAC Treasurer. New oversight procedures have been put in place. TDWCC looks forward to continuing their mission to educate, activate and elect."

Looking on Keith Self's contribution list, I see he has received donations from several Democrats. Visit www.selfsbrokenpromises.com -- your Collin County friends will be shocked!

I have read many of your other blogs and at least there was some substance ... this one is lack luster. Must be NO REAL Primary News to Report? Not sure as a staff blogger if you get paid for these ... but this one only deserves two tea bags!

Good information. I was out urinating in my yard when a kid ran up and stole my Keith Self sign ... I just know he was a Democrat. Daley and Power are just meddling in our primaries, thinking they can topple our empire. Those Democrats are nothing but liars and crooks!

reading comments from someone like Mad Hatter relieve me (and not in his manner) that my Democratic principles are sound. I'm glad to be sitting on the sidelines here watching and reading the silliness of the GOP.
Make sure you wash your hands when you're done Hatter!...peace
