Girls Baksetball: Lady Dawgs Still Perfect

McKinney North Does It Again

The McKinney North varsity Lady Dawgs continued their early season success Thursday, defeating TCA 58-34 in the opening round of the Highland Park Tournament.

"We got off to a slow start," said North coach Valerie Little, whose team managed to pull ahead 29-12 by halftime. Little said her team, which improved its record to 4-0, picked up its defensive play in the second half to produce the final margin.

 North's leading scorer was Amanda Mason with 16 points. Aundrea Gamble had 13 points. Alexis Mason finished with 9, while Rachel Thomas chipped in 6. Tahnie Hilliard and Khouriana Johnson each had 4 points while Theresa Mendoza & Avril Matthews finished with 3 apiece.

The Lady Bulldogs will play THESA at 3 p.m. Friday in the second round. THESA is a private home school basketball program.

MHS Freshmen Roll In Tournament Play

McKinney High's Freshman A team defeated Arlington High 47-9 on Thursday, cruising to victory in the first round of the Arlington Lamar Tournament. High scorers were Emily Barnes with 16 and Audrey Lafon with 9. The Lionettes play Dallas Ursuline in the second game Friday afternoon.
