ALLEN – McKinney North pitcher Kristen Adkins helped her team wrap up the Allen Softball Tournament in style on Saturday.
North topped Round Rock Stoney Point, 13-0, behind a perfect game by Adkins. It was the second perfect game of Adkins’ career and the second consecutive game in which she allowed no hits. Adkins struck out eight of the 15 batters she faced, and the game was run-ruled after five innings.
North finished the tournament 4-0-1.
Stoney Point was outmatched from the start. North (8-2-1) scored in each of its five at-bats, scoring 13 runs on 10 hits and six walks. The Lady Bulldogs got three in the first, two in the second, third and fifth and four in the fourth.
Shortstop Amy Kilpatrick collected three hits and three RBIs and Kelsey Schendt had two hits, two RBIs and scored three times. Ashley McClean added a hit, an RBI and scored twice, while Kathy Shelton added a walk and a hit, stole two bases and scored twice.
The story of the weekend was Adkins’ dominance. She hurled a perfect game and a no-hitter and in 30 innings of work allowed just eight hits and two runs while striking out 39.
