McKinney North failed to get its offense going, and its 13-game winning streak came to an end as a result. The Lady Bulldogs fell to Lake Dallas, 2-1, on Friday.
It was the Lady Bulldogs’ first district defeat.
North (17-3-1, 4-1) eked out just one run on six hits. Lake Dallas (16-6, 3-2) managed just four hits, but three of them came in succession during the fourth inning, producing all the offense the Lady Falcons needed.
North managed more than one hit in only one inning - the sixth - also scoring its only run in that same frame. Kelsey Schendt singled to left and hustled into second base when the left fielder misplayed the ball. Two batters later Hannah Moseley singled to right field to score Schendt.
Kristen Adkins took the loss, striking out 12 and walking just one. Both Lake Dallas runs were earned. In their fourth at bat, the Lady Falcon three and four-hole hitters - Sarah Donelas and Kirby Leipsic -singled, followed by a double to the centerfield fence by Taylor Farley. Farley’s run scored Donelas and Leipsic.
The Lady Bulldogs created very few scoring opportunities in the game and had trouble getting the timely hit. Two strikeouts ended a North threat with two runners on in the fourth and one out. The Lady Bulldogs stranded a leadoff triple in the fifth.
North, ranked No. 2 in the state, hosts top-ranked Frisco at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
JV Notes: North’s junior varsity squad reached the five-run limit in each of their three at bats, finishing off the Lady Falcons in three innings, 15-0, on Friday. Lake Dallas recorded just one out. Taylor Burnside had two hits including a triple. Rebekah Parker also tripled. All but one of North’s batters scored at least one run, while six scored twice. Lindsay Collings pitched North to victory allowing two hits and striking out six.
