It’s a battle of No. 2 and No. 3 in the state in Conference 4A, according to the latest Texas Girls Coaches Association poll, released today.
McKinney North vs. Waco Midway
Region II-4A Championship SeriesGame 1: Friday, 7:30 p.m., at North
Game 2: Saturday, 5 p.m., at Baylor’s Getterman Stadium
Game 3 (if necessary): Saturday, 30 minutes after game two, Getterman Stadium
But fair or not, either second-ranked McKinney North (28-8-2) or third-ranked Waco Midway (26-6) will not get to reach the state final four. That’s because they play each other this week for the Region II championship in a best-of-three series.
The details of their series were released Monday, and they are as follows:
Game 1 is Friday at 7:30 p.m. at North.
Game 2 is Saturday at 5 p.m. at Baylor University’s Getterman Stadium.
And Game 3, if necessary, will be held 30 minutes after Game 2 at Getterman Stadium.
The Lady Bulldogs are 6-2 in postseason play this season. They swept their area round series 2-0 over Whitehouse, won their regional quarterfinal 2-1 over Mesquite Poteet and just won their regional semifinal 2-1 over Waxahachie.
The Pantherettes are also 6-2 this postseason. They won their area round game, 20-0, over North Dallas. Then they won the regional quarterfinal series over MIdlothian 2-1 before taking their regional semifinal series over Hallsville 2-1.
