Committee On Aging Needs Your Help

Rising Food and Gas Prices Hit Agency Hard

Collin County Committee on Aging (CCCoA) is a 32 year-old nonprofit that provides more than 1000 meals daily to seniors in the county who would not have access to adequate nutrition without the Meals on Wheels program.  Most Meals on Wheels clients have three or more chronic illnesses and are at real risk of malnutrition.

The agency seeks to fight the isolation many seniors face when sequestered away from the community due to frailties associated with aging and disability.

CCCoA needs your help because:

  • CCCoA’s food costs increased 20 percent from June of last year to June of this year.

  • Delivery charges have increased $50 and sometimes up to $500 for food shipments to the kitchen located in McKinney.

  • CCART, Collin County public transportation provided by CCCoA also delivers frozen meals to rural areas in Collin County covering more than 883 square miles.  Even CCART suffers from the 27 percent increase in total fuel and gas costs.

Please visit the website CCCoAweb.org to gain additional information about the agency. Donors can donate directly online and interested volunteers can call (972) 562.6996 ext. 125.
