McKinney Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast A Big Success

Thursday, March 4, 2010

The McKinney Kiwanis Club held their 61st Annual Pancake Breakfast on February 27th at the First Christian Church of McKinney. The club served several hundred people pancakes, sausage, juice, milk and/or coffee at the breakfast. Joe Sparling and Matt Johnson, event coordinators, were very pleased with the number of participants at the breakfast.

The Pancake Breakfast is a fund-raising event for the McKinney Kiwanis Club with all of the proceeds from the event used to support local children's projects and charities. Market Street helped with the Pancake Breakfast by donating all of the food and drink products

During the breakfast there was a 50/50 raffle. The winner of the raffle won half of the proceeds from the raffle and half of the raffle was added to the proceeds of the Pancake Breakfast.

The pancake breakfast is one of three fundraisers that the Kiwanis Club sponsors each year that support local charities. This years breakfast is expected to generate over $7,500 dollars that the club will use to support charities such as CASA, Children & Community Health Center, Community Lifeline, Christmas Food Baskets, Dallas Ramps, Shoes for Orphan Souls, Children's Medical Center, Community Food Bank, Key Clubs at McKinney North & Boyd High Schools, Terrific Kips programs at Finch, Caldwell and Webb Elementary schools, and Bingo at Homestead Nursing Home.

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
